Obama Stabbing Iowans in the Back

After Yepsen’s article yesterday saying that the only hope of Iowa keeping its first in the nation caucus status is if Obama wins, there are several news reports out now to the contrary.

First, there needs to be some clarification. Ds and Rs don’t have to have their primaries/caucuses on the same day. There were several states this last primary season whose parties held their events on separate days. So, what the Dems do doesn’t necessarily affect the Republicans and vice versa.

As I mentioned yesterday, the R calendar for 2012 is supposedly set, and just needs rubber-stamp approval at the September convention. If McCain wins, I don’t see why he would care which state is first. Either he’s only going to serve for one term and not care what happens in 2012, or he’ll be an incumbent president with no serious primary/caucus challengers in 2012 anyways. Either way, it won’t matter which state is first for him personally.

The Dems are a different story. Yepsen thinks Obama will be friendlier to Iowa because Iowa Dems gave Obama his big boost into the spotlight (and kicked Hillary and all the others in the teeth in the process).

But now there is news that Obama is supporting the formation of a committee that would re-draw the primary calendar for the Dems. There is special concern because of reports that key members of this committee will come from Michigan, whose Democratic leaders seem to have a vendetta against Iowa when it comes to the timing of the primaries/caucuses. There are also reports that these Michigan Dems are thrilled with the idea of this commission because no guarantees have been made to Iowa and New Hampshire, and this is an opportunity to take away these states’ important position. While Obama has said he supports the idea of Iowa and New Hampshire being first, the fact that he’s even supporting this commission calls that support into question.

So much for Yepsen’s portrayal of Obama as the savior of the Iowa Caucuses. Even if Obama wins, the caucuses (for the Dems) are still in question. But I'm sure Dave still wants you to vote for Obama anyways.

And Dave, we’re still waiting on you to give up your lying rat of a “source.”

How do we know that the person lied? Just because what was in print was not accurate does not mean that the person who gave the information to Yepsen lied. Have you ever sent a letter to the editor or an article that was edited only to see in print a distortion of what you wrote? How do we know that Yepsen didn't edit it to make it sound worse than it was?

This is not in defense of anyone, just questions I think need to be asked before more accusations are hurled.

A snippit from a Conservative magazine blasting McCain in April...

The March 20 Pew Research Center poll showed that in the first two months of this year, only 27% of Americans identified themselves as Republicans. People will not identify with a political party that has no identity.

This is the road we are on! This is what McCain/Libermann will get us!

When we let Democrats and independants choose Juan McCain we might as well start our primaries in San Fransisco!

Vote Bob Barr 08!

Um...right.. vote for the party of legalizing drugs, prostitution..the party who has never got any one elected on a national level..EVER...

Do think the war on drugs is working?
You think making prostitution illegal will make it go away?

All you are doing by spending billions of dollars in the war on drugs is making organized crime thrive and prop up drug financed regimes like Columbia.

Vote your mind, please, but make sure you look at who would better represent your interest. Im not trying to push anyone off on you, Mike, but it would be unpatriotic to rubber stamp Juan McCain just because he has an "R" in front of his name.
