Teahen Plans to Concede… Eventually
By Emily Geiger
Well, I guess this is about as much as we can expect… The Teahen campaign has now stated that it “doesn’t expect” to request a recount, but will wait until the results of the official election canvass are in to see if the canvass confirms the election day outcome. The results of the canvass likely won’t be known until at least next Tuesday.
Well, duh. If the canvass finds some huge problem, of course that would need to be looked at. But the problem is that there is absolutely no evidence of any such problems in this election. John Deeth pointed out yesterday that after the 2002 canvass when there was a similar number of votes cast, the canvass only changed the results by 3 votes out of approximately 17,000.
Even the Teahen campaign admits that they don’t foresee anything that will change the outcome of the election.
So, I guess this is Teahen’s half-hearted way of conceding. It could have been handled a little better in my opinion, but I’ll take it. Time to move on and focus removing Dave Loebsack.

from my understanding a collection of complete tabulations from 3,4 counties (big and small) that I know of show a NET gain for MMM of 2 votes.
this does not include Wapello or Linn.
I'm pretty amazed by my perception of the lack of effort or "boots on the ground" by the Teahen campaign.
Not even Letters to the Editor posted anywhere that I saw in the last days. From a distance, it appears to me they thought they could win by calling MMM pro-choice with Robo Calls and whispers and were working on their General Campaign.
:::shakes head:::
Disappointed that Teahen didn't ask for us to rally 'round the winner in his released statement, but oh well.
Hope this is my last post on the guy. Nice guy, just really bad campaign.
Iowa Public Television was threatened with a court injunction this morning by a campaign staff person of a U.S. Senate candidate who was narrowly defeated in Tuesday’s primary.
