UPDATE: Iverson DOES NOT want RPI to pay for US Senate Recount

Earlier today we received information that Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Stew Iverson is calling around to members of the Republican Central Committee urging them to have the State Party pay for the recount of the U.S. Senate primary vote. That information is was incorrect.  I apologize for putting fourth any misinformation, but I believed my source was credible and went with it.

I still believe however that the State Party and Iverson would be wise to stay as far away as possible from the recount situation.  Any involvement, even with the best intentions will cause massive distrust between current and future candidates running for office under the Republican brand.  While I can understand their willingness to help; but its best to stay away.

I’m fully supportive of Peter Teahen and George Eichhorn’s right to call for a recount. That is a decision that they should make as candidates, and if they choose to go that route, they alone bare the financial burden associated with such a decision.

With as much (or I guess I should say "as little") money as Stu and Darrel are bringing in to RPI, where is this money even going to come from?

The Party should not be anywhere near this. Looks like they are trying to save face. Um, the party playing favorites.....shame shame.

Looks like there will be no recount. Au revoir Teahen.
