Monday Morning Mixed Bag

Lots of little things to start the day off today.

Danny Carroll to run against Eric Palmer

I was surprised when a friend told me that former State Representative Danny Carroll of Grinnell is going to seek to regain his seat from Eric Palmer of Oskaloosa. This seat has been a close contest for the last two cycles. This is a great opportunity for Republicans to pick up a seat but it’s not going to be easy. The district includes Grinnell College which has been known to be able to swing elections in low turnout years. It will be interesting to see what happens in this district since it’s a presidential year, but do Iowa a favor; help Danny out!

Worried about Teahen

The reports from the 2nd District are coming in slow, but it doesn’t seem like the Congressional Candidates over there did anything to get people motivated in that 3 way primary. I guess I’m not surprised. Peter Teahen, on his announcement tour, had the following quotes:

"I'm really not after the Republican vote. I'm after the American vote"

I guess he picked up this language while attending Senator Obama’s rally in Cedar Rapids with Oprah. There is some concerns out there that Teahen isn’t the real deal, well I guess what I’m trying to say is there are people who didn’t think the guy is really a Republican. Teahen also contributed to Julie Thomas in 2002 and wasn’t a registered Republican until just recently.

Teahen also had this quote:

"Once we get the fence built and the borders secure, then we take a look at enforcing our immigration policy."

What?!? He doesn’t want to enforce our current immigration laws until we secure our border? I’m telling you folks, this guy scares me.

Party Chairs on the Insiders

GOP Chair Stewart Iverson and IDP Chair Scott Brennan were on the Insiders with Dave Price this weekend. The first topic up for discussion was the ads run by the Iowa Future Fund. Once again, Brennan says its all lies, but it’s Brennan who’s fast and loose with the facts, not the ad. The TV ad clearly footnotes, stating that their claim is based on the 2007 Budget and the 2009 Budget request from the Governor. Brennan only wants to talk about the taxes that have already been hiked, which by his account comes to $350 million.

Iverson did pretty well making the case against Culver, I just wish he could drop that annoying laugh of his.

Interesting that Danny would try to make another run considering some of the dirt that started to trickle out towards the end of the campaign

Hmmm. That's funny, because Iowa records show that Danny had an active real estate license for several years after the incident you allude to, and they also show that he never had any disciplinary problems with his license.

Further, your friend who you link to is a moron. The lawyer who actually participated in the wrongdoing was not "disbarred" as the blog states. His license was suspended for 3 years, not revoked permanently. Next time try using a dictionary when you don't know what big words mean.

Could it be that you guys have no fricking clue what you're talking about?
