Hey Smoker Hating Emily....

Have you ever smoked before?

Let me just summarize for you all how the next few posts are going to go to save us all a little time.

Me: Why, no, Grant, I have never taken up that dirty habit or even taken a puff.

Grant: Well, then you don't know how hard it is to quit! Ha. Got you there.

Me: That may be true, but I know numerous people who have quit because they realized it was harming their children's health, cost too much, and was going to make them die an early death. And even those who don't quit completely can at least get to the point where the gum or the patch helps them through times when they can't smoke (i.e. teachers during the school day).

This isn't about the governor's wife smoking. It's about the governor's wife breaking a law her husband signed.

Who cares if she smokes. That's her business but she does not have the right to thumb her nose at the law when the rest of us are expected to honor it.

This is par for Democrats. Does illegal aliens come to mind? They selectively ignore that law, too.

Under that line of thinking, we should not allow male OB/GYNs. Since they've obviously never been pregnant, how dare they give advice to pregnant women.

I guess I just don't know anything about smoking since I'm not a smoker. Did you ever think that perhaps, it is smokers' opinions that we should question in regard to smoking issues because they are obviously speaking through the filter of their addiction?

it's about Mari Antoinette smoking inside her state-supplied SUV in clear vision of a STATE PATROLMAN, while others, the serfs of the world, are kicked to the curb or the edge of their company's property to smoke.

who cares if she smokes? but really, couldn't she have taken a break outside the car? couldn't she go stand in the cold like all of those affected by her husband's best intentions? and her trial lawyer buddies' best lawsuits?

why does SHE get to violate the law, and to boot, inside a gas guzzling SUV that WE pay for driven by a STATE PATROLMAN whose salary we pay?

laws just don't apply to the rich and famous. we should just get over it, i guess.

Adam: If you want lists of corrupt politicians I can find longer lists of Democrat crooks than Republicans.

One huge difference between these crooks is that Republicans always slink off and resign. You don't see Democrats resign as they think they're entitled and they have no shame.

It's just like them openly stealing elections over and over again.

It is Democrats who want laws regarding illegals to not be enforced. They want to look the other way? Why? Because they look on every one of these illegals as more votes to keep them in office.

I still don't care if Mrs. Culver smokes. That's her business but she should pay the price for violating the law.

It is people like you Darren, who instead of taking responsibility and holding your party's curropt leaders accountable, you decide to point the finger across the isle.

That is the failed Republican scheme of the last two elections, "We may be bad, but look!, they are worse!" didnt seem to work out did it?

We need a clear conservative message that can stand alone.

I too am sensing a little hostility toward smokers on this blog.

The state can disallow smoking in state-owned property. But it shouldn't dictate smoking in private homes and businesses. Tobacco is still a legal product. If they really have a problem with it they should ban it. But then the state wouldn't have any money, so I don't expect that to happen.

If people want to smoke, let them smoke in their own private businesses, homes and vehicles! The fact that she was ratted out for smoking just illustrates what a STUPID law this is, with everyone breathlessly reporting on who smoked a cigarette and where. It's such a waste of time!

Really if we want to follow this through, anyone working for the state or receiving state money must not be allowed to smoke. I mean, they shouldn't be allowed to use taxpayer money to fund their unhealthy habit. To enforce this we can require them to submit hair and urine samples. State employees should all be whole grain, soy eating vegetarians who exercise at least 45 minutes every day, and drink their daily 6-8 glasses of water. Otherwise I am just funding their filthy habits and artery-clogging lifestyle choices with which I don't agree. Anyone observed eating white bread, meat, or fried food, or exercising or drinking less than the full required amount should be reported to the proper authorities and ticketed.
